Meet our new baby Savannah

With many discussions back and forth on is it time, should we or shouldn't we, no/yes...we decided to add to our family. Me really wanting another Bullmastiff and Josh feeling guilty and afraid that if we did get another Bullmastiff it'll feel like we replaced Guinney and the memories of her would fade. So we opted for a more high energy, outdoorsy kinda dog, which led us to the German Shorthaired Pointers. My parents had one when I was little and they just loved that dog. Plus with all the camping & 4x4ing we do/try to do and my daily runs we figured this breed would be ideal. We did a lot and I mean A LOT of researching and searching on the breed and breeders and we finally have our new beloved Savannah.
Savannah is 10 weeks old, we bought her from a breeder out in Norco, CA. They had 10 German Shorthairs of their own…10! They do hunting, field competition & training. Josh is hoping to attend one of the competitions to see what it’s all about and maybe get into the sport. We shall see. Savannah is the most loveable and cuddly puppy ever. She wants to be by your side or on your lap at all times. With me and Josh’s schedule she’ll never be by herself and we’ll be able to give her all the love and attention she needs. We know that this is going to be difficult, training her will be tough and they need lots of exercise. But we’re up for the challenge and I really want the kids to have a pet they can bond with and help train and exercise.

We still have Ruby our pit mix, but she’s getting old and she can barely make the loop I run/walk daily. Ruby can be grouchy and she’s not a dog the kids can cuddle and play with. This is what really made us want a dog for the kids/family.
